8 Months

IMG_3422

Milestones:  She is really fast at crawling now and pulling up on everything. She is also babbling all the time and laughs and smiles easier. Two more teeth came in on the bottom.

Sleeping/ EatingShe sleeps pretty well most of the time. She is still teething so there are nights where she wakes up once or twice. She is now eating all the food at her daycare. They feed them such healthy things throughout the day. I read her menu and want to come over for lunch! Avery still loves her bottles though so she is still having 4-5 of those a day.

Clothing: She can still fit some 9 month clothes, but mostly we have moved on to 12 month or 18 month. PJs are the hardest we keep growing out of those.

Avery’s Favorites:  We got her a little table toy to practice standing on. The toy has all these buttons and things to play with and she likes the little plastic rattle phone that came with it the best. I swear she is at the age where she likes random objects better then baby toys.

Things I want to remember:

She is just so much fun and easy going. We have busy lives and she is happy most of the time and doesn’t get too thrown off. Her little personality is starting to show through and we think she is going to be a determined, strong willed girl. Once she has her mind set on something she just goes for it and doesn’t care what obstacle she has to go through to reach what she wants. There were some firsts this month: going in the pool, swings at the park, and a wedding. Experiencing new things through your child’s eyes brings back the excitement and wonder in life.

What we have been up to

Avery took her second flight down to CA for our cousin Lillian and Will’s wedding. I wasn’t as nervous this time for our first flight, but thought she might get annoyed when she couldn’t move around. She did really well and we had nothing to worry about.  In California we spent time with family and her cousin Cora who is only 6 weeks younger. Their age gap keeps getting less and less whenever we see them. I also spent a day with my wonderful friends of over 10 years and met Andrea’s new baby girl Zoey.  Tyler had his first Father’s day with Avery and we celebrated with his family.

7 Months

IMG_3284 IMG_3283

Milestones:  She is doing a scoot crawl and really proud of herself. She does these crazy planks and holds herself up working on her core. She is also a pretty stable sitter now.

Sleeping/ EatingSleep is still on and off with teething. She also wakes up and starts to practice her crawling. She is trying a ton of new foods at home and at daycare. Avery loves food, she enjoys trying to get it in her mouth and is happily occupied by some Cheerios.

Clothing: All 9 month clothes and growing out of pants quickly.

Avery’s Favorites:  She loves Cheerios and Mum Mums.

Things I want to remember:

This month was a relief after a very hard month. Last month she was sick a lot and really wanted to crawl and couldn’t. This led to one cranky sad baby. I felt so bad for her when she kept getting sick. Once she started to be able to move around it was like she was a new girl.

What we have been up to

Molly and cousin Karis came for a visit, we love getting the girls together even though they don’t have much interest yet. They did hold hands and that was really cute. We got to see her cousin Silas who is crawling and pulling up a lot more than Avery and she was watching him intently trying to figure out what he was doing. I had my first Mother’s Day and Avery was such a doll that day, just smiled and was so sweet. I will always be thankful that I am Avery’s mom.  It is the hardest thing I have ever done and by far the most rewarding. Obviously she is my first and I have nothing to compare to, but I think she is such an easy going sweet girl.

6 Months

IMG_2988

Milestones:  Weight 17 pounds 6.8 ounces 78%, Height 27.75 inches 98% , Head 46 cm 99%. She really wants to crawl and is really frustrated that she can’t.

Sleeping/ EatingSleep is pretty bad she is consistently waking up at 3 or 4 am due to teething and wanting to crawl. She has baby food and pouches now.

Clothing: She can still fit in some 6 month, but in some 9 month too.

Avery’s Favorites:  She loved looking at the mirror at her 6  month appointment. She was so happy there and had no idea that she was going to get shots. She also likes her play mat area where she tries to scoot around.

Things I want to remember:

She is growing and changing so much. You always want them to reach the next milestone, but then you miss them as a cuddly baby.

What we have been up to

My mom came for a few days to help with Avery. Tyler was traveling for work and I had a crazy work week. It ended up working out really nice timing so there wasn’t a huge gap for her seeing Avery. She still had a few colds here and there and we had to go home from daycare. I feel so bad for her and just wished she would stop getting sick. She loved Easter and had so much fun dressing up and getting attention from everyone. We are still able to go out to dinner with her since she doesn’t mind sleeping in her carseat. We know this is almost the end of this phase!

5 Months

IMG_2720

Milestones:  She got her second bottom tooth and was trying to sit up towards the end of the month.

Sleeping/ EatingShe was sick off and on and teething so she would wake up at 4 am and we would bring her into our room.

Clothing: She in 6 month and 6-12 month clothes.

Avery’s Favorites:  We made a new play mat area and she loves spinning around and rolling here and there. She loves her feet this month and I can hear her in the back seat kicking and grabbing them.

Things I want to remember:

She was sick off and on, but she still stayed so happy.

What we have been up to

We went on a walk with Auntie Megan one day after work and she loved being in the stroller. One weekend we went to Nana Sue’s house and spent the night since Tyler was out of town. I loved being able to sleep and being taken care of and Avery loved being with her Nana. She had to go home sick a lot so Tyler and I traded off with our work schedules. She is definitely a daddy’s little girl was excited to be home just with him.

Avery’s First Easter

IMG_3040

Avery has a favorite holiday and so far it’s Easter. This girl was so sick yesterday with a fever, runny nose, and pretty much slept all day cuddling with her parents. I really thought we were going to have to cancel having family over today, but she did a complete 180 and was feeling so good all day.

IMG_3008

This was her yesterday. She was not feeling herself at all.

IMG_3057

New girl today hamming it up for the family

Avery fit into the dress her nana gave her when we found out she was a girl. It is so crazy that this time last year we just found out we were having a little baby girl and we dreamed of how she would be. At a little over six months her personality is shinning through and she is beyond what we could have imagined.

We spent the morning hanging out at the house as a family and then headed off to the noon church service. She loves the loud music and makes her own noises as the band plays, she sticks her arms straight out and and just explores all the people. Once the sermon starts going she still wants to talk so Tyler had to take her out in the hall. I didn’t want to put her in the nursery since she was sick yesterday.  While we were at church, my sweet in-laws started all the food at our house, so by the time we got back almost everything was ready.

The meal was so good and we put Avery in her high chair as we ate and I fed her some baby food. Once we all started talking Avery decided she wanted to be the center of attention. She was using her new-found voice…screams… and smiling at all of us.  Today she decided her auntie Megan was hilarious. There is a running joke in the family fighting over who is the funniest, and Avery nominated Megan today. Avery does not laugh easily, you have to work for her laughs and she was just giggling away at Megan. Each phase brings so much joy to all of us and today was just perfect.

After eating we took a family walk to Starbucks and Avery took a nap in the BOB. It was a beautiful spring day with all the flowers blooming and sun poking through the clouds. When we got back to the house Avery was trying so hard to crawl. She is now doing these planks trying to get her knees under her body. I am so thankful to live near family that we truly enjoy being around. We really missed our family in California and Utah. I wish I owned a private jet to make sure we could all be together for every holiday.

Happy Easter everyone!

18-20 Weeks

IMG_2382

Milestones:  She got her first tooth last Saturday and rolled from tummy to back today! It is with such mixed emotions as she passes these firsts. I am so happy and delighted she is growing and thriving, but sometimes I just want her to slow down a little and stay a baby 🙂 At her 4 month appointment she was 14 pounds 9 oz 73% (she has always been 50% in weight), height 25.5 inches 91%, head circumference 43 cm 97%.

Sleeping/ EatingShe was sleeping really well again 7 pm to 7 am and then she got another cold and has been waking up here and there. She is now having a 6 oz bottle every two hours and with her first tooth we are going to try rice cereal and some purees.

Clothing: This girl is growing so much. She is still in some 3-6 month clothes, but some of them are too short and all her PJs are 6 month. We are also close to moving to size 3 diapers.

Avery’s Favorites:  When we were home she liked to get out of the house and go for a walk or the store. If we were home too much she would get fussy and want to go do something. She likes this piano toy that plays music and she can chew on. She is also liking her purse that is a teether. Pretty much anything she can chew on is the best thing.

Things I want to remember:

We had our first snow storm with Avery. She loved looking out the windows and seeing the snow. She had a cold already and so did I so I didn’t really take her outside, but she loved just watching the snow fall. She started saying ba ba and blowing bubbles out of her mouth. She also started making these high pitched screams. She loves to hear herself making noises. Avery enjoys to be on top of daddy’s shoulders and walking around the house. If she is in the worst mood she starts smiling. Avery also likes it when I make funny faces in the bathroom mirror, even at the fussy time of night I just go in there and make crazy faces and she is so amused.

What we have been up to

It has been a busy couple of weeks. We enjoyed our last weeks at home and kept life simple. Some of the days we were trapped inside because of the snow storm and we have a very steep driveway. One day we did meet up with cousin Silas and auntie Alex and the babies finally noticed each other and had fun looking at each other. Nana and Papa came to watch Avery for Valentine’s Day date night and spent the night and took care of her. It was nice to just sleep and not be listening for her to wake up. The next day Avery’s cousin Karis was born. We are so blessed to have girl cousins close in age on both sides of the family! This girl is going to have so much fun with these little ladies. I started back to work and Avery started at daycare. She absolutely loves it there. She smiles the teachers, and is interacting with the other babies. They have an open door policy so I just drop in whenever I want to see her and she is always smiling and playing when I stop by. It has been hard on me because I miss being the one seeing every smile and laugh, but I know as we get into a routine it will get easier. Our friends Lincoln and Joelle came up with their kids and Avery’s baby friend Emma for a visit.

16 & 17 weeks

 IMG_2148

Milestones:  We we went to the doctors to make sure she didn’t have an ear infection so she weighs 14 pounds 2 oz. We have our four month appointment next week.

Sleeping/ Eating: The last two weeks have been rough on the sleeping front. She was teething pretty bad last week and then came down with a cold this week. Poor girl just keeps waking up with a stuffy nose and can’t go back to sleep. How quickly I had forgotten about those sleepless nights of the first few weeks. Some people might be able to handle them better, but you can ask Tyler, this mom needs her sleep. Since her teething was bothering her so much she consistently was refusing to nurse. I was planning on stopping when I went back to work anyway, since my supply was so low, but it was hard for me to stop. I also feel bad that she got a cold right after we stopped. I wish things would have worked better with that whole thing, but it was out of my control with the pnemonia.

Clothing: I spent a good chunk of last saturday putting away clothing that doesn’t fit her anymore and washing 3-6 month clothes. Some of those 6 month footie pajamas are already getting small! This little lady is growing so fast! I think she is still really long for her age and I will be curious to see what percentile she falls into at her four month appointment.

Avery’s Favorites:  She is in love with her feet. Whenever she is getting a diaper change she will just grab at her feet and do these baby yoga poses. She is also trying to crunch up he whole body. I think she is working on her core so she can sit-up. She loves this little crinkle book that had a cookie teether on it.  She still likes her play mat, but is growing out of her bouncer chair. At the end of the week we got her a jumperoo. At first she didn’t know what to think of it, and then she decided it was really fun to jump and play.

Things I want to remember:

She is starting to laugh more. I swear she saves up all her laughs for when her daddy comes home from work. I will be finishing up dinner and I just hear these tiny giggles coming from the other room.  Her cold and teething have been hard, it is so sad when your baby just looks at you and with their little eyes saying mom what’s wrong? I have been doing a lot of cuddling and holding her in hopes that it will make her feel better.

What we did this week

The last two weeks have been rough. Avery is not feeling her best and sleep hasn’t been consistent. I have been sticking around the house and doing normal everyday things like going to the store.  I will be headed back to work in a few weeks and am mentally preparing for that. Life will be very different and much busier so I am soaking in this time with her where we can just have our own  little routine together at home.

14 & 15 weeks

 IMG_1895

Milestones:  I didn’t weigh her, but she has to be over 14 pounds by now.

Sleeping/ Eating: We had family here and then we traveled to CA to see family and friends and she slept pretty good while we were down there, but our schedule wasn’t routine. Now that we are home she has been having a rough time with sleep, going to be around 8 pm and waking up several times starting at 3 am. This week I plan to get her nap schedule back on track during the day so she starts sleeping better again. I also think teething is causing her pain and waking her up. She has been increasingly fussy when feeding and wants only bottles more and more.

Clothing: In all 3-6 month clothes. I need to start putting away outfits that she has grown out of.

Avery’s Favorites:  My mom had a Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal and she loved it. That thing made her crack up whenever you put it in front of her. When I got home I took out this elephant stuffed animal I had in her room and she just smiles so much. She is definitely more into books and loves when we sing head, shoulders, knees and toes to her. My mom, sister, and I looked crazy singing it together and moving all around. She also loves time on the changing table and being naked. She just smiles and laughs at Tyler.

Things I want to remember:

She is much more aware of everything around her and in better control of her arms and hands. Avery is much more smilie at everyone even strangers. I was shocked when she was smiling at everyone on the plane. There were so many people that commented on what a sweet happy baby she is.

What we did this week

We did our first flight down to California to see family and friends. This momma was a little nervous about how it all was going to go. Originally I had thought Tyler could take us to the airport and help us get through security, but it turned out he was out of town on business so I had to pack and go by myself. The most stressful part was getting through security. I tried to time Avery’s eating, but she ended up getting pretty fussy while we were going through. Once we were past security she was loving the airport. They have these spinning mobile things in one of the food areas and she was so entertained. The stewardess was so nice on our flight and found a window and middle seat for us so we could keep her carseat. Avery was an angel and slept the entire flight.  The week was filled with fun getting to introduce her to family and friends. We also had a baby shower for my sweet friend Andrea who is expecting her first baby girl in April. Avery got to meet her cousin Cora that is 6 weeks younger than her. Even though we don’t live close by these girls are going to be good friends. Hopefully whenever we go visit Grammy and Grampy the girls will get to play and have fun together. It is much harder to be away from family now that babies are involved. I would love to go over to my parents house a few times a week just to hang out with the babies. Avery will just have to stay a great traveler, because we will be going down as much as we can. Tyler wasn’t able to go with us and we missed him so much.

13 weeks

 IMG_1647

IMG_1648

One, Two, and Three months

Milestones:  She is now 13.5 pounds and i think half of it is in her cheeks.

Sleeping/ Eating: With the holidays and family visiting her sleeping has been all over the place. We tried getting her to bed regularly, but she went to bed late a lot of the time. Same eating half feeding and half formula.

Clothing: Three month clothes are too small. I think she wore most of her outfits in that size one or two times. It is crazy how fast they grow out of things.

Avery’s Favorites:  She loves to be held so she can stand up  or sit up. If you prop her up or put her against something she is able to sit there easily.  Avery is so strong and loves to look around.

Things I want to remember:  At 3 months she is her own person. She really has likes and dislikes and wants new things to discover and enjoy. When we go on walks  she looks around and really takes in the scenery. She gets bored easily, when she was smaller I could just hold her and she would be content. Now she wants to move or play with toys or sing songs or on an outing.

What we did this week

My parents and sister came to see Avery this week.  My sister was so naturally nurturing with Avery. She was smiling and cooing the moment Laura held her and talked with her. I love seeing Avery through other people’s eyes. We hung out at the house, went on walks, went shopping, and just spent time together. My ideal world would be all of our family in the same state within 30 minutes. That is not reality for our family so we cherish every moment we spend together.

IMG_1491 IMG_1492 IMG_1493 IMG_1507 IMG_1522 IMG_1531 IMG_1536 IMG_1541 IMG_1547 IMG_1583 IMG_1623 IMG_1626 IMG_1628 IMG_1630 IMG_1633 IMG_1634

12 weeks

 photo-3

Milestones:  She is 12.5 pounds and getting so strong! I think she is longer too, but haven’t measured her.

Sleeping/ EatingShe has been going to bed closer to 12 am again and wanting to wake up at 8 am. I think she is going through a growth spurt, because she is much hungrier than she has been the last few weeks. Same eating half feeding and half formula.

Clothing: Most of her three month clothes are getting too small. I washed all her 3-6 and 6 month jammies. Girlfriend has some big feet and they fill up the 6 month jammie feet and the rest of them are still too big.

Avery’s Favorites:  She has discovered her tongue and blowing spit bubbles. I don’t know if it is too early to start teething, but she is obsessed with everything about her mouth. She got some new books for Christmas that she loves and a little dolly from her grammy that settles her down. Avery is a busy girl these days and needs a lot of play time and reading time.

Things I want to remember:  Sticking her tongue out at us was too cute and funny. Tyler and I were just laughing and could not get enough pictures of her. Moments like these are so special to experience together and I know there will be many more developmental stages that will be much more exciting, but for now this one was the best.

What we did this week

We got together with Friends who live in a different stat and Avery got to meet another baby friend that had the same due date that she had. It was so interesting to see the differences in them. Avery is lucky to be born at the same time as a lot of little girl babies. It was so magical to have Avery’s first Christmas Eve and Christmas. We dressed her up in a cute Christmas dress and she got some adorable presents from family. She obviously had no idea it was different than any other day, but it was special to share this holiday with her. We went to an 8 pm church service downtown where we had to park in a structure, walk a ways, and wait outside to get in. Then she had to have a bottle right when we got there and then needed a diaper change badly. It was all worth it to see her look around the service and listen to the Christmas music and look at the lights on the screen. Each year as she begins to understand the meaning of Christmas it is going to be more special to our family. Christmas Day we had Tyler’s family over for a brunch then hung out together and went on a family walk. At the end of the week my parents and sister came to visit sweet Avery. Sharing Avery with friends and family is such a joy.
